It is pretty ironic and tragic how our priorities sometimes backfire. A lot of parents I know will work from dawn till dusk every day to provide the best future for their children, yet by doing this they might be harming their kids more than helping them. You see, economic security is important, but it is not the most important factor in a child's development. Children need constant interaction, both with other children and their parents. This is, after all, how they learn and develop in the early years of their lives – something that will affect them for the rest of their days. If you can not read to your children every night, they will have a much harder time learning to read when they reach school. This is why childrens audio books can be such a good idea.

The first time I bought my childrenaudiobooks was when I was going on a business trip for a few weeks. I had been reading to my daughter from the same book every night for a week or two, and we were about halfway done with it. She was very unhappy to see me go, and I knew that she would really miss that story. On a whim, I went to the local audio book store and discovered that I could get a copy of it.

At first, she was a little bit uneasy about listening to the childrens audio book. She explained to me that she wanted to hear me reading it, not some tape recorder.  Nonetheless, when she figured out that I wasn't going to stay no matter how much she begged and pleaded, she relented and decided to listen to the childrensaudiobooks.

She actually really enjoyed it. I like to think that she still likes the way I read more than she likes childrens audio books, but I bet it is a close call. The childrens audio book readers are excellent. My diction isn't bad, and I'm a pretty expressive reader, but these are real trained actors. Your average run-of-the-mill father just simply can not compete! They know precisely how to read childrens books to make them exciting and engaging, keeping your kids on the edge until the very last page. Although my daughter is still unhappy when I leave town, the childrens audio books make my trip a little bit easier on her. Both of us are very happy about that.
