Benefits of Audio Bible

I have always loved audio books. You see, I stare at a computer screen all day at my job. It is sad to say, but at the end of the day I just don't have the energy to pick up a book. I love stories and I love to read, but my eyes are exhausted and my mind is fatigued by my hard work days. On the weekends meanwhile, I like to travel, which leaves very little time for reading. As a matter of fact, the only way that I get any reading done is through an audio book. I get audio books online twice a week, and my tastes span quite a bit of territory. I even recently listened to audio Bible. Sometimes I listen to thrillers, other times mysteries, still other times some of the great works of science fiction.

So when I came across an audio online Bible, it made me pause for a moment. I was raised pretty religious, but I have recently moved away from it. You see, it isn't that I have renounced my beliefs so much as that I have stopped thinking about them so much. There is so much else that I'm involved with, after all, that it is hard to keep a spiritual life going. The audioBible seemed like a perfect way to refresh my connection with the church. I could listen to the audio Bible after work instead of my normal reading. Taking in an hour a day, it wouldn't be long before I had gone through it.

Audio Bible - Too Long?

Unfortunately, the Bible audio book barely worked at all for me. I never thought about it before, but there are some books that are simply not fit to be audio books. The Bible is one of them. Although the Bible does contain some timeless messages for all of history, it also contains some remarkably long-winded and boring passages. Having an audioBible means that you have to listen to pages of begets, all of the rules of Leviticus, and countless other pieces of information that might not interest you. I know that I might offend some people out there with delicate religious sensibilities, but let's face it – the Bible is a book that has to be scanned. An audio Bible take this ability away from you. Whether or not you are interested in the genealogy of thousands of ancient Hebrew kings, you will have to wade through it.
